Peng Liyuan and Queen Letizia Visit Disability Service Center in Beijing

Beijing, November 12, Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Queen Letizia Ortiz of Spain visited a disability service center in Beijing on Wednesday morning.

During the visit, Madame Peng and Queen Letizia learned about the center’s programs and services for people with disabilities. They toured an exhibition on the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, followed by visits to sections showcasing the role of science and technology in supporting persons with disabilities and a public reading area. The two dignitaries observed assistive devices developed in China, educational activities for children with disabilities, and the country’s efforts in building barrier-free facilities.

Peng Liyuan emphasized that helping people with disabilities integrate more fully into society requires the joint efforts and support of all sectors. She added that China and Spain could strengthen exchanges and cooperation to better assist people with disabilities in realizing their dreams.

Queen Letizia expressed great interest in China’s initiatives to improve the welfare of people with disabilities—particularly women’s employment—and praised the country’s achievements in promoting inclusivity and empowerment.
