The Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, has reaffirmed that the upcoming national election will be held in the first week of February. He made the announcement on Friday while speaking in Netrokona.
Addressing concerns about misinformation, Alam said that certain groups benefiting from the previous government were spreading confusion regarding the election. He referred to them as “paid supporters of the fascist regime” and emphasized that their claims would not influence the election timeline.
Alam added that the current government will function as an electoral government, ensuring a fair and transparent process. He noted that the election preparations are already underway across the country, with political parties actively selecting candidates and making logistical arrangements.
During the meeting, District Commissioner Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahmud Zaman and Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud were present. Students submitted a memorandum requesting amendments to regulations to facilitate faster recruitment of diploma holders in livestock degrees, which Alam assured would be forwarded to the Chief Adviser.
After the meeting, Alam paid tribute at the July Memorial on the banks of the Mogra River before departing for Mymensingh.
