On October 4 (Saturday), Chinese President Xi Jinping and Bangladeshi President Mohammad Shahabuddin exchanged congratulatory messages marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh.
In his message, President Xi Jinping stated that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors with a long history of mutual interaction. Over the past five decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties, despite the ever-changing international and regional landscape, the two nations have consistently advanced their friendship based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, setting an example of mutual respect, equality, and win–win cooperation between countries.
He noted that in recent years, political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to deepen, while cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and in various other fields has expanded steadily. The comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Bangladesh has also continued to grow stronger.
President Xi further emphasized that he attaches great importance to developing relations with Bangladesh. He expressed his willingness to work with President Shahabuddin to take the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties to strengthen traditional friendship, enhance mutual cooperation, and promote shared development for the greater welfare of both peoples — thereby contributing more to world peace and development.
In his message, President Mohammad Shahabuddin said that over the past 50 years, the two countries have developed a deep friendship based on mutual respect, trust, and enduring cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples. He expressed Bangladesh’s sincere gratitude for China’s significant role in promoting regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity, as well as for its long-term and valuable support for Bangladesh’s sustainable development.
He further expressed confidence that, through the joint efforts of the leaders and peoples of both nations, Bangladesh–China cooperation will become even more fruitful in the years ahead.
