The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression showcased both China’s military strength and its commitment to peace—instilling confidence across the Global South and developing nations. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel made these remarks in an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Beijing on September 4.
“We were deeply moved by the commemorative ceremony held on the 3rd to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,” Díaz-Canel said. “The military parade not only reflected solemnity, strict discipline, and excellent organization, but also projected China’s military strength to the world. It highlighted the profound transformation and progress achieved by China’s armed forces in science, technology, and defense—developments from a country that has consistently adhered to the principle of not attacking, intervening in, or occupying other nations.”
The Cuban president further noted: “By advocating for the building of a community of shared future for mankind, China has set an example for the world. At the same time, when faced with hegemonism, China has responded firmly, demonstrating a robust military deterrent capable of countering imperialist aggression. I firmly believe this has inspired great confidence in many countries, particularly across the Global South and among developing nations.”
