Arab League Warns Gaza Takeover Plan Threatens Regional Stability

The Arab League has warned that Israel’s plan to fully seize the Gaza Strip poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability. The statement came on Sunday following an emergency meeting of the organization in the Egyptian capital. Source: Anadolu Agency.

The League urged the international community to exert pressure on Israel to immediately halt what it described as “genocide, blockade, and starvation policies” against Palestinians in Gaza. The statement accused Israel of seeking full military control over Gaza and the occupied West Bank, displacing Palestinians, and carrying out a campaign of ethnic cleansing.

These actions, the League said, constitute a violation of international law, an overt aggression against the national security, political, and economic interests of all Arab states, and a direct threat to regional stability. The organization reaffirmed its support for ongoing joint mediation efforts by Egypt and Qatar, calling on major powers—particularly the United States—to act decisively to end Israel’s aggression and its illegal occupation.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his army would soon capture Gaza City and establish a civilian administration there, despite previously denying any plans to take over Gaza.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry, five more people have died since Saturday due to hunger and malnutrition, bringing the total number of starvation-related deaths to 217. The ministry also reported that more than 61,000 people have been killed since Israel’s military operations began in 2023.
