Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, has said that trees not only produce oxygen but also preserve biodiversity, protect soil, reduce the adverse effects of climate change, and help people become economically self-reliant.
She further emphasized that to restore the balance of nature, everyone must come forward to plant more trees. The Advisor made these remarks this afternoon while visiting the month-long National Tree Fair at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.
Organized by the Forest Department under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the fair will continue until 27 July. During her visit, the Advisor toured various stalls and spoke with nursery owners engaged in the production and marketing of eco-friendly saplings.
She noted that initiatives like the National Tree Fair play a vital role in fostering love for nature and raising environmental awareness. She called upon students and people from all walks of life to visit the fair and learn about the importance of tree plantation.
Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Conservator of Forests of Dhaka Social Forestry Region Hossain Muhammad Nishad, Divisional Forest Officer of Dhaka Mahamuda Roksana Sultana, and senior officials from the Ministry and Forest Department were present during the visit.
The Advisor reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to ensuring public participation in environmental conservation through national tree plantation campaigns and fairs.
