24 September : A joint delegation from the British High Commission and Democracy International paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh Secretariat on Friday, 25 September.
The four-member delegation was led by Louise Beynon, Governance Adviser at the British High Commission. Other members included Ryan Duncanson, Political Counsellor at the British High Commission in Dhaka; Aminul Ehsan, Chief of Party at Democracy International Bangladesh; and Lipika Biswas, Senior Programme Director.
The meeting discussed the development of the parliamentary democratic system, the formation and effectiveness of parliamentary standing committees, and the proposed Cybersecurity (Amendment) Act 2026, among other issues.
Dr Ziauddin Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Political and Immigration) at the Ministry of Home Affairs, along with relevant ministry officials, was also present at the meeting.
