A training aircraft crashed near the banks of the Ganges River in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, killing both the pilot and co-pilot, officials said.
The twin-engine training aircraft came down in a field near the river, prompting emergency services personnel and local administrative officials to rush to the crash site.
According to officials, the aircraft crashed after losing control. The precise reason for the loss of control, however, has not yet been established.
The deaths of the two pilots have prompted condolences from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He expressed deep sorrow over the incident and conveyed his sympathies to the victims’ families, wishing them strength and patience during the difficult period.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and cause of the crash.
