Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman Meets Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister HE Dr. Khalilur Rahman today called on HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, at his office in Doha.

During the meeting, Dr. Khalilur Rahman conveyed the greetings of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the Qatari leadership. He expressed Bangladesh’s solidarity with Qatar and commended its constructive and responsible role in promoting peace, security and stability in the region, which is important for the wider region and beyond.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Dr. Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and reiterated Qatar’s commitment to extending its support and cooperation for the successful discharge of his responsibilities.

Discussing bilateral cooperation, the Qatari Prime Minister described Bangladesh as a brotherly country and assured that Qatar would extend all possible support to Bangladesh in ensuring energy security, particularly in the current challenging circumstances.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman invited the Qatari Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.

Later, the Foreign Minister met with HE Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and discussed issues of mutual interest.

Hon’ble Adviser to the Prime Minister for Finance and Planning HE Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Hon’ble State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources HE Aninda Islam Amit, Hon’ble Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs HE Humayun Kabir, and senior officials from both sides were present during the meetings.
