A high-level US business delegation led by Atul Keshap, president of the US-Bangladesh Business Council, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir on Wednesday (August 12) at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations between Bangladesh and the United States, expanding the scope of economic cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
Welcoming the delegation, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir said Bangladesh and the United States have maintained longstanding and multifaceted relations. He noted that economic cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, could play an important role in further strengthening ties between the two countries.
Highlighting existing facilities and promising sectors for US investors in Bangladesh, he said the government is committed to ensuring a favorable environment for business and investment. He also noted that there is scope for expanding cooperation in sectors with strong investment potential.
Humayun Kabir said Bangladesh is currently going through an important phase of economic transformation and the creation of new opportunities. At this stage, closer partnerships with US businesses and investors could make a significant contribution to economic growth, job creation, and the exchange of technology and knowledge, he added.
Atul Keshap expressed interest in Bangladesh’s economic prospects and investment opportunities, while emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries. He also expressed the council’s interest in taking business relations between Bangladesh and the United States to a new level.
The meeting also covered opportunities for increased US investment in trade and investment, industry and infrastructure, energy, technology, the digital economy, healthcare and other promising sectors.
Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening communication and partnerships between the business communities of Bangladesh and the United States. They agreed that stronger engagement between the two sides could help further accelerate economic relations between the two countries.
