More than 821,000 people displaced by the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah have begun returning to their homes as the intensity of hostilities has eased, the United Nations has said.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), at least 821,077 displaced residents had returned to their areas of origin as of July 30, marking a significant step toward recovery after months of conflict and mass displacement.
OCHA noted that although the large-scale return movement is underway, the humanitarian situation remains challenging, with more than 360,000 people still displaced across the country.
Of those who have yet to return, around 26,000 people continue to live in government-run collective shelters, relying on humanitarian assistance for food, healthcare and other essential services.
The UN emphasized that the return of displaced families does not necessarily signal the end of humanitarian needs, as many affected communities continue to face damaged infrastructure, limited public services and the long-term consequences of the conflict.
Humanitarian agencies are continuing to monitor the situation and provide assistance to displaced populations while supporting communities receiving returning residents.
The latest figures underscore both the gradual improvement in security conditions and the continuing humanitarian challenges facing Lebanon as it recovers from months of cross-border violence.
