China’s Tianzhou-9 Cargo Spacecraft Successfully Completes Mission

China’s Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft successfully made a controlled re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere at 7:49 a.m. on Thursday, May 7. According to Chinese authorities, a small amount of debris from the spacecraft fell into a designated safe area in the ocean following re-entry. The Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft was launched on July 15, 2025, from the Wenchang Space Launch Center. During its mission, it delivered essential supplies, propellant, and scientific equipment to support astronauts aboard China’s space station. The mission is considered another important step in China’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its long-term space station operations and expand its capabilities in orbital logistics and space exploration.
