US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced the conclusion of the American military operation conducted in Iran, stating that the mission achieved its intended objectives.
Speaking at a White House briefing on Tuesday, Rubio said the operation, known as “Operation Epic Fury,” has officially ended.
Responding to a question from ABC News, Rubio confirmed that the military campaign, which began in February, is now complete. “We are now working on a new strategic initiative called ‘Project Freedom,’” he said.
According to Rubio, the United States is currently not interested in becoming involved in any new military conflict over Iran. Instead, Washington is placing greater emphasis on diplomacy and regional stability.
He stated that President Donald Trump wants to ensure the restoration of normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the return of uninterrupted international trade. Rubio also indicated that discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program would continue.
The US Secretary of State further stressed that avoiding further escalation and pursuing dialogue-based solutions remain Washington’s primary objectives under the current circumstances.
Observers believe the announcement carries significant geopolitical implications amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.
