US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that Iran would face severe military action if any commercial vessel is attacked in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, Al Jazeera reported. Speaking at a press conference at the Pentagon, Hegseth said any targeting of commercial ships along the key international shipping route would carry serious consequences for Tehran.
He stated that the United States has established what he described as a “strong red, white, and blue dome” in the Strait of Hormuz as a direct assurance to the international community. “If any commercial vessel is attacked, Iran will face devastating strikes,” Hegseth warned during the briefing.
