China a Key Strategic Partner in a Multipolar World: Josipović

Former Croatian President Ivo Josipović, in an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG), stated that the world will never return to an era of unilateral dominance by a single power. He emphasized that the trend toward a multipolar world is clear and steadily evolving. Urging Europe to reassess its stance, he said that unfounded concerns about China should be set aside, as China is an important strategic partner.

Praising the four global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Josipović said these initiatives would have far-reaching impacts. He commended China’s technological progress, particularly in artificial intelligence, the automotive industry, television manufacturing, and various machinery sectors. He noted that Chinese cities are modern, clean, and equipped with advanced infrastructure, while the standard of living of Chinese citizens has significantly improved. According to him, China is not only an equal partner but also, in certain areas, a highly influential force in the global economy.

Speaking about bilateral relations, Josipović described ties between China and Croatia as excellent. He pointed out that there are no political or other disputes between the two countries, which he said is highly beneficial for both sides. Despite China being a large country and Croatia a smaller state, cooperation has been smooth and continues to deepen. He also highlighted Croatia’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as particularly important.

When asked to evaluate Chinese President Xi Jinping, Josipović described him as a great and successful leader. He said that China and President Xi treat all countries and their leaders as equals, which he considers crucial, as it demonstrates China’s genuine understanding and practical application of the principle of sovereign equality.

Commenting on China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, Josipović said it reflects the continuity of China’s policy of openness, which is অত্যন্ত essential in today’s world. He added that it creates further opportunities for Croatia to deepen its engagement in the Belt and Road Initiative and expand cooperation with China across various sectors. He noted that China consistently follows a “win-win” approach in international projects and foreign cooperation, which sets it apart from some other major countries that do not adhere to this principle.

Throughout the interview, Josipović repeatedly expressed his admiration for Chinese philosophy and culture. He highly praised China’s achievements in sectors such as artificial intelligence and automobile manufacturing. He also reiterated his hope that Europe will move beyond its so-called “concerns” about China and that Europe and China should build a closer, more complementary partnership.
