Rescue Efforts Intensify in Tehran, 960 Pulled Alive from Rubble

Iran’s Red Crescent has ramped up rescue operations in Tehran following recent airstrikes that left large parts of the capital in ruins. Emergency teams are working around the clock to locate and উদ্ধার those trapped beneath collapsed structures.

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, at least 960 people have been rescued alive from the debris so far.

The Red Crescent reported that the strikes caused widespread damage to civilian infrastructure across the country. In total, around 125,630 structures have been affected, including nearly 100,000 residential homes and more than 24,000 commercial establishments.

The large-scale humanitarian and infrastructural crisis began in late February, when coordinated attacks by the United States and Israel hit multiple locations in Iran. Reports indicated that the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was among those killed. Over the following weeks, the death toll from the conflict surpassed 3,000.

In response, Iran imposed restrictions on movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor through which a significant share of the world’s oil and gas supplies passes. The move has disrupted international energy markets and heightened global concerns.

Amid rising tensions, a temporary ceasefire was brokered on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan. The truce, agreed upon by both sides, is set to remain in effect until April 22.
