China–US Initiatives to Stabilize the Global Economy

China and the United States should better play the effective role of their bilateral economic and trade consultation mechanisms and further strengthen mutual dialogue and communication.

On Thursday in Beijing, He Yadong, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce, made the remarks in response to questions regarding China–US economic and trade relations at a regular press conference.

He noted that since last year, under the strategic guidance of important consensus reached by the two countries’ heads of state, China and the United States have achieved a series of positive outcomes following six rounds of economic and trade consultations. These outcomes have contributed greater resilience and certainty to bilateral economic relations as well as the global economy.

The spokesperson further stated that practice has fully demonstrated that mutual respect, equality, dialogue, and consultation are the most effective ways to resolve differences and address problems. China and the United States should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by their heads of state and build on the results of previous consultations. At the same time, by fully utilizing the economic dialogue mechanism, strengthening communication, properly managing differences, and expanding practical cooperation, the two sides can promote the sound, stable, and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
