50 Militants Killed in Nigerian Military Operation

The Nigerian Armed Forces have reported that at least 50 militants were killed during a coordinated military operation in the northeastern region of the country. The information was confirmed on Thursday by Lieutenant Colonel Sunny Uba, spokesperson for the army in the northwest region.

He stated that joint operations by land and air inflicted significant damage on the strongholds of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). While the mission achieved notable success, several soldiers were injured, though the exact number of casualties was not disclosed.

The Nigerian government has been fighting against Boko Haram and ISWAP members for nearly 16 years, as these groups have sought to establish a so-called caliphate in the northeastern part of the country.

Authorities noted that this recent operation has given new momentum to anti-terrorism efforts, and the army confirmed that military actions against the militant groups will continue until they are fully neutralized.
